Goat Forage

Sustainable, healthy, all-natural goat forage

When allowed to free range and forage naturally, wild goats will choose the plant material that they need to stay healthy.

We have spent countless hours observing the choices that our goats make when allowed to free range and forage naturally.

Based upon our observations, the most natural goat diet is one third grasses, one third high-nutrient plant material, and one third high fiber material (tree material, leaves).

Goats also need small amounts of other materials for proper mineral balance (tree bark and lichen). Fruit peels and pine needles, which naturally contain higher amounts of vitamin C, help to maintain a healthy immune system.

Our goats absolutely love alfalfa and will run to it wherever it is encountered. Despite being a favorite powerhouse nutritional option, no one plant alone should make up too high a percentage of a goat’s diet. They need to eat a variety of plant material.
